I almost didn't write this.
Not because I don't want to talk about it. Because I'm tired of talking about it and nothing changing.
The number is 17. That's how many veterans die by suicide every single day in this country. Seventeen. Every. Day.
We all know it. We've all seen the memes, the PSAs, the "reach out if you need help" posts. And yeah, those matter. But I wanted to do something more than post a hotline number and feel good about it.
So I wrote a book.
It's called "Anxiety to Resilience: Rewire Your Mind with Holistic Tools" and it's about exactly what it sounds like - getting from the dark place to a place where you can function again. Not cured. Not fixed. Not "thriving." Just... resilient. Able to take the hit and keep moving.
The book draws from my own experiences as a Navy Corpsman - the anxiety I didn't have a name for back then - and the creative, holistic strategies I found that actually work. It's not a clinical textbook. It's a field guide written by someone who's been in the thick of it.
I'm not a therapist. I'm not a doctor. I'm a guy who served, who's been in some of those rooms, and who found a way through. If what I learned helps one person get through a bad night, that's the whole point.

What's Actually in the Book
Chapter 1: Understanding Anxiety in a Modern World. Why your brain thinks it's being chased by a lion when you're just sitting in a coffee shop. The biology of the buzz.
Chapter 2: Breaking the Spiral. Concrete tools to stop anxiety in its tracks. Not "just breathe." Actual frameworks you can use right now.
Chapter 3: Quieting the Overthinking Mind. The mental loops that keep you up at 2 AM and how to break them.
Chapter 7: Healing Trauma - A Body-Mind Journey. This is the one that hits closest to home for a lot of veterans. What trauma does to your body, not just your mind. How to start unwinding it.
Chapter 8: Building Resilience Through Mindfulness. Not the Instagram version of mindfulness. The version that actually keeps you from spiraling when the bad days hit.
Chapter 14: Traditional and Non-Traditional Treatments. A balanced look at what's out there, from therapy to holistic tools to things your VA doctor might not mention.
There are 14 chapters total plus a quick-reference toolkit in the appendix. You don't have to read it front to back. Find the chapter that matches what you're going through and start there.
Real Resources (Not Just "Call This Number")
If you're in crisis right now, stop reading and call 988, then press 1.
That's the Veterans Crisis Line. It works. It's free. They actually know what they're talking about.
If you're not in crisis but you're not okay either, that's who this book is for. The space between "fine" and "emergency."
You mattered before you served. You matter now. Don't let anyone - including your own brain - tell you different.
